When a client wanted to bring a new event to the area, we helped them organise a brand-new awards ceremony celebrating a very important group of people – the talented, dedicated workers of Hull.

In its first year, The Hull & East Yorkshire People in Business Awards (HEYPIBA) received over 100 awards entries, completely sold out of tickets and was trending on Twitter for over 24 hours. This is how we did it.

Starting back in August 2018, 10 months ahead of the night of the event, we designed the HEYPIBA brand.

It involved a modern and fresh approach to business awards, with a vibrant colour palette reflecting the diverse categories and inclusivity of the event. We used strong spotlight graphics to communicate the search for the region’s most talented individuals, and an official hashtag to get people talking about the event.

Next came the HEYPIBA website, a place for people to go and nominate their colleagues for one of 11 awards. It told users everything they needed to know about Hull’s newest awards ceremony, who each award was for, and why they should nominate.

It featured custom-made graphics, followed the HEYPIBA brand, and gave potential ticket buyers a run-down of what they should expect from HEYPIBA.

HEYPIBA case study 2 Pace

Over the next nine months, we implemented a strong social media strategy, employed some pretty creative PR tactics and attended a heck of a lot of meetings.

The result? A sold-out event with 400+ attendees, a #1 trending hashtag on Twitter for more than 24 hours, more than 100 award entries, and a night for the hard workers of Hull to remember!

Now to get to work on next year…

“Pace were incredible. The account management of the event and everything that went alongside it meant we pulled off an amazing night. To sell out in our first year was a fantasy, and we did it! I’m incredibly proud of what we achieved together, and I already can’t wait to start working with Pace again for next year’s event.””
