The local independent scene in Hull is thriving! We’re incredibly lucky to have so many creative small businesses right on our doorstep. That’s why this year, more so than ever, it’s really important that we all ‘do our bit’ to support our favourite indies – the creatives, makers, movers and shakers that make you proud to be a Hullensian!

Need a little Christmas gifting inspo? The Pace team is on hand to help you #ShopHull this year by sharing their favourite small local biz:

Two Gingers

Molly, Social Media Executive: “It’s the best local spot for coffee lovers. Its delivery service during lockdown was a lifesaver. I love the delicious imported blends and beautiful selection of natural wines – the vino rosso is my fave. I’ve got my eye on one of the new handmade beakers too!”

Yokoso Home

Lauren, Senior Account Executive: “I love the gorgeous lifestyle and homeware items with elegant simplicity and wonderful textures, especially the handmade rustic mugs, vases and plant pots. It also has some beautiful journals, Christmas cards and wrapping paper (the white dot wrap is a piece of me, because I’m a polka dot obsessive) – great for all homebodies and people looking to refresh their surroundings whilst we’re all stuck at home!”

Marla’s Sandwich Shop

Becci, Senior Account Manager: “The gift hampers full of Marla’s store cupboard staples – such as its infamous curry ketchup – make for a great gift. You can also get some fantastic hampers from Cocoa Chocolatier (slightly less store cupboard but chocolate is always essential in my eyes!)”

Caz, Account Manager: “I’m really into 19Point4’s new homeware. It’s a small collection but what it has is really nice. The store has lovely candles in pots you can re-use after, and mirrors and frames! I recently got this candle and this wooden picture frame and this large rattan mirror is super cute. This headband has become my new firm fave too! In fact, I could buy the whole store!”

Friends On Every Street

Alex, Designer: “Who doesn’t love quirky Hull references? Easy gifts for any member of the family – t-shirts, jumpers, beanies and even stuff for babies!”

Light & Scent

Shirin, Director of Strategy: “For lovely candles and bath bombs etc. It also has a Christmas themed gift range. I got a couple of the Mum In A Million candles.”

Form Shop & Studio

Shirin: “For lovely stationery for the organisers in your life. I think ‘to do’ lists and meal planners are nice stocking fillers.”

Humber Street Distillery

Shirin: “Its Orange Valentina Gin is great for gin lovers and it also has many more flavours, including a Hull Gin!”

Bed Boutique

Shirin: “It has lots of lovely woolly knits and bags at reasonable prices. Great for sisters/mums/aunties!”

Hannah, PR Executive: “It’s my go-to for pretty jewellery for family and friends – and myself more often than not. Humber Street on the whole makes for a lovely afternoon of Christmas shopping, the atmosphere is brilliant, and you always find something unique that you can’t find in the high street chains!”

Sparked by the announcement of the second lockdown and seeing first-hand the impact COVID-19 has had on the vibrant small businesses that surround us at Pace HQ, we decided to play to our strengths as a creative comms agency and do something to help.
