Hi, I’m Emma and I’ve joined Pace Communications for two weeks’ work experience.

I have just completed my second year at the University of Hull in BA Geography and I’m currently undertaking research for my third year dissertation on the housing market in Hull. Alongside my degree, I enjoy playing netball, going to the gym, fashion and shopping. I also have a part-time job as a Bear-builder at Build-a-bear Workshop, which is great fun.

I chose to do my work experience at Pace because I wanted to get a feel for what the company does and how they function. As a Geography student, I’ve not had much experience in the business world, and hoped that Pace could expand my horizons for when I graduate in 2018.

Pace has helped me develop a better understanding of marketing. Before coming in, I wasn’t really sure what to expect because I’d never been in a working environment like it before. My experience at Pace has really changed my opinion about office work – working in an office can actually be fun and interesting!

Whilst I have been here, I’ve seen how they work as a company, observing various meetings and discussions. I’ve also had a go at creating content for different websites which has been really interesting. Various team members explained their different roles to me, which was great because I got to know the team better, and also how they play a role in the day-to-day operations at Pace.

Across the two weeks, I’ve also had the opportunity to go out with Account Manager Chloe to various locations and either observe or help with her work. These opportunities have allowed me to get involved and experience meetings with clients.

Something I love about Pace is the fact that the group is very tight knit. Designers work very closely with Account Managers and so on. I think it’s a fantastic company with everyone working well as a team to get their work done efficiently and to a very high standard.

The location of C4DI where Pace is based is brilliant. The regenerated Humber Street area has lots of cafes and bars which are great to visit on a lunch hour and it’s a short walk into the centre of Hull too.

I have loved my two weeks work experience with Pace. It’s definitely given me a positive experience in business and inspired me to look into this side of the working world. Everyone has been so welcoming and has made my two weeks a fantastic experience which I’ll take with me into the future.

Keep up to date with our office over on Instagram.
